I was born and raised in the small town of Climax Springs, Missouri in the Lake of the Ozarks region along with five brother and two sister. We all grew up on a large farm but were definitely not wealthy with materail things. However, we always had food from our large garden and we would can tons of green beans, corn, tomatoes, beets and other vegetables. We also raised cattle and chickens for eggs and meat.Since I was the eldest girl, at a very young age, I was taught to help take care of the chickens and helped my mother with every day chores around the house including: Drawing water from the well, changing diapers/feeding/taking care of younger sibllings, cleaning house and keeping the outhouse clean etc. etc. (Yes our restroom was outside).We never had a TV but did have a radio to listen too. Usually on Saturday nights the Grand Ole Oprey would be playing and we'd take some time to listen. Nearly every Sunday moring our family would attend church and that's where I found a love for singing too. Life in the Ozarks was hard in many ways but was very simple too. I wouldn't of traded the place nor the way that I was raised up because I know that that is where the value of hard work was instilled in me. Our family really didn't have many materials things at all but we sure had and still have love for one another.In 1968 I got married, had my son John and moved to Independence Missouri where I worked as a waitress. On the side I checked groceries at Kroger's and sold Kirby Vaccuums.In 1978 I obtained my real estate license and have enjoyed helping people with buying and selling homes ever since!
