Biography of a True Brightwood Realtor:

Uniqca V. Powell is a Washingtonian and was born and raised in the Brightwood subdivision of Washington, DC. She was actually reared in a real estate environment. She lived in a ten (10) bedroom home located in the 800 block of Rittenhouse Street, NW, where her father rented out rooms for rent for the first 19 to 20 years of Uniqca's life. Uniqca continued to carry on the property management/landlord role for three (3) additional years (after her father fell asleep in death) until she sold the home in 1991. Uniqca resided in this home from 1968 to 1991 (23 years). Uniqca attended the Brightwood schools, namely: Whittier Elementary School, Paul Junior High School (currently known as Paul Public Charter School), and graduated from Coolidge Senior High School in 1986.

Later Uniqca moved back into the Brightwood subdivision from 1993 to 1995 and then moved to Capitol Hill and resided there from mid-1995 to 2009 (14 years). While Uniqca liked Capitol Hill, she really LOVES Brightwood and missed it very much. Her roots are there, her wonderful, fond memories are there, and her HEART is there. As a result, in 2005, she and her husband purchased a home on Nicholson Street, NW and physically moved there in 2009, where they currently reside and have been for the past 10 years making her a resident of Brightwood for a sum total of 35 years. She is so delighted to be back in Brightwood where she and her husband raise their two youngest children in the beautiful Brightwood neighborhood. She loves to walk along the treeline streets, she loves the neighbors, the parks, recreational centers, and schools for her children. She loves the convenience to the many stores, shops, metro, and easy access to Silver Spring, Bethesda, downtown DC and more. Uniqca's first home that she sold in 1991 was in Brightwood (her first home was sold as a Probate Estate Sale). Uniqca has listed/sold/rented 10 homes in the Brightwood Neighborhood.
